Elementary Music

Class Description

K-1 - In this class students use movement, instruments, and songs to introduce them to the world of music.  It is a fast paced class where students are introduced to many different styles of music. Students get the opportunity to participate in two concerts where they showcase some of the things they have learned.
Second Grade- Students get to start using more instruments and learning the basics of music notation. Through the use of movement, dance, songs, and modeling, students learn some of the fundamentals of music. Students in this class also learn more specific things about how to sing. Students also get the opportunity to participate in two concerts where the get to showcase some of the things the have learned.
Third Grade- Students learn more about other countries and cultures through music. They are introduced to recorders and learn how to play simple melodies. Students build on their knowledge of music notation and practice reading and playing music. Students have the opportunity to participate in two concerts where they get to showcase some of the things they have learned.
Fourth Grade- Students use their recorders on a more regular basis. They learn how to play individually and as a group. Students in this class get to help direct the Christmas musical. This group gets the main speaking parts and they are responsible for helping the younger students with the program. Students in this class also get the opportunity to participate in two concerts where they get to showcase some of things they have learned.
